The health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, supply chain, and communities in which we work remains one of our key priorities.
We take our safety, health, environment and quality responsibilities extremely seriously. Our ISO 9001 and 14001-accredited processes form a robust framework, allowing us to deliver against these responsibilities whilst ensuring that our approach is continuously audited and approved.
Our directly employed SHEQ Team assume responsibility for safety, health environment and quality issues throughout our organisation and on all projects. They are overseen by Joint Managing Director, Mark Hart, who reports on SHEQ at Group Board level. Our teams are supported and empowered with gold standard training, equipment, and supervision to ensure that our projects are delivered safely, responsibly, and to an exceptionally high standard.
Health and Safety
Barnes Construction place the wellbeing of our staff, subcontractors and communities at the heart of our operations. We take pride in the fact that throughout our time in business, we have had very low numbers of reportable health and safety incidents. All risks are considered at an early stage of our projects, and carefully managed throughout by our teams.
Environment
We aim to achieve ‘beyond legislation’ compliance for our operations and are continuously seeking to reduce the environmental impact of our operations.
Waste management is a key priority, with our waste to landfill volumes consistently 10% below industry averages. The carbon footprint of our sites is captured using Construct CO2 software, with data utilised to inform the implementation of carbon reduction techniques and offsetting. Progress is benchmarked using KPIs, driving efficiency and best practice. We have experience of delivering BREEAM Excellent and Passivhaus projects.

As an organisation with a high proportion of repeat business clients, our reputation has been built on our ability to consistently deliver buildings of outstanding quality. We are delighted to have won numerous awards for design and craftsmanship over the years, and see these as testament to our ongoing commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
We are incredibly proud of our site teams, who ensure that exceptional results are delivered on a daily basis. They are supported by our SHEQ team and wider business processes, ensuring a consistency in our approach and a reliable end result. We utilise the latest technology to share best practice, and proactively engage with our supply chain to ensure that the whole project team works as one to deliver high quality buildings.
