The ward provides outpatient services for minor treatments for children and teenagers. The refurbishment increased the bed capacity and also provided overnight accommodation for parents.
The works comprised of the stripping out of the existing finishes, fixtures and fittings and building services. The refurbishment of the ward was undertaken within a busy occupied hospital facility and access to the working area was carefully planned as the project was located at Level Three.
New hospital quality floor, wall and ceiling finishes were installed in addition to new doors, joinery and fixtures and fittings. New mechanical and electrical installations were also installed including new bed head services
As there were client supply items, with the assistance of the Trust the installation of which was installed to programme. Close communications with the Addenbrookes team at all times ensured a direct link and facilitated the to programme project. A good working relationship was established between our Site Manager and Client. Daily inspections and visits were undertaken which helped with the daily communications of works.
At the beginning of the project it became apparent the inability to isolate the services to the ward and the large quantity of changes brought about by the opening up of a ward which had not been refurbished in a long time. We worked with the Trust to continue the refurbishment to programme.
