To deliver the new facilities, an existing Victorian single storey extension was demolished.
The extension was constructed with traditional loadbearing masonry incorporating stone detailing to the window surrounds, window mullions and transoms and parapet copings. The building’s pitched roof area was formed with timber trusses finished with a plain clay tile finish. The upper floors were constructed with timber joists with tongued and grooved decking.
Internally, high quality finishes were installed within the Cavendish Bar area. This included the installation of oak wall panelling, door surrounds, folding doors, internal doors, new bar fittings and fixed seating. Plaster coving and Karndean decorative wood flooring were also used throughout.
“Our experience with Barnes on previous projects as well as the Cavendish Rooms has been excellent. I have found Barnes to be very professional and courteous as well as being very friendly and exceptionally accommodating to the ever-changing needs of the College throughout the build process.”
