Barnes Construction is the largest division of The Barnes Group Limited and offer a comprehensive professional construction service. The business is based at its Head Office in Ipswich, but operates throughout the UK. Projects Undertaken
Barnes Construction undertake new build and refurbishment projects in a typical project value range from £0.5m – £15m in all the major sectors including commercial, educational, industrial, leisure, health and social housing.

Key attributes for the Role

• Ability to work as a key part of a team
• Understanding and familiarity of the various procurement routes available.
• Understanding and ability to prepare quantities in accordance with standard methods of measurement.
• Understanding of the construction process and forms of construction including ability to identify alternative build solutions.
• Ability to undertake analytical estimating including comparison of supply chain quotations.
• Experience of using Estimating software packages
• Commercial awareness to ensure that tender bid provides competitive edge wherever possible and maximise tender success rate.
• Ability to prepare project preliminaries costs appropriate to project type and size.
• Basic presentation skills to provide ability to present sound understanding of project and tender proposals etc.
• Willingness to assist in development of junior members of staff
• Report to the Chief Estimator and Pre-Contracts Director
