THE PROJECT COMPRISED OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW SINGLE STOREY RESPITE CARE HOME PROVIDING SHORT BREAKS AND DAY SERVICES FOR ADULTS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES WITHIN A HOMELY ENVIRONMENT. THIS PROJECT WAS PROCURED VIA A NEC PARTNERING CONTRACT UNDER A FRAMEWORK ARRANGEMENT
The facility provides residential accommodation for up to 8 people and the day service facility provides day care for up to 12 people. The new building was constructed using traditional cavity wall masonry construction providing a suitable efficient thermal mass. The roof construction was formed with Glulam beams, trussed rafters and softwood joists infills with some elements of the Glulam beams being exposed and expressed both internally and externally. Internally, the building
incorporates a variety of finishes in addition the provision of specialist health equipment such as disabled baths and patient hoists.
