THE PROJECT COMPRISED OF THE REMODELLING AND REFURBISHMENT OF THE EXISTING HOSPITAL STERILISATION AND DISINFECTION UNIT (HSDU) ON THE FIRST FLOOR LEVEL AT IPSWICH HOSPITAL.
This project was completed whilst surrounded by ‘live’ operational hospital facilities.
Specialist building services were supplied from a new roof level plant room and two existing plant rooms remote to the refurbishment works area were also used for the installation of new equipment supplying the new HSDU facility.
The existing HSDU area was remodelled and refurbished in a phased manner. Internally robust medical quality internal finishes and fittings were provided in order to create a clean environment. The project also incorporated complex mechanical and electrical services together with the coordination and installation of the specialist sterilisation equipment.
The mechanical and electrical installation was linked to the hospital’s main BMS system allowing monitoring of the building systems and energy usage.
Key features of the project include:
- Occupied live hospital site
- Phased project
- Medical quality finishes and fittings
- Specialised sterilisation equipment
- M&E installation linked to existing BMS system
- Traditional procurement route
