THE PROJECT COMPRISED THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW COMMUNITY SPORTS HALL AND CRICKET PAVILION ON PARKLAND OWNED BY ST EDMUNDSBURY BOROUGH COUNCIL
The project provides a community sports and cricket facility for shared use by South Lee School, Bury St Edmunds Cricket Club, Sporting 87 Football Club and members of the general public. The project was jointly funded by the School, English County Cricket Board and St Edmundsbury BC.
The scheme included the construction of a single storey steel framed multi use sports hall clad with a combination of masonry and high performance composite cladding. Internally, specialist sports hall flooring was provided incorporating underfloor heating. An attached two storey cricket pavilion building was also constructed incorporating changing facilities for users and officials together with a communal lounge with bar and kitchen facilities and a viewing veranda overlooking the cricket pitch. This element of the project was constructed using masonry construction, precast concrete upper floors and a steel framed roof structure supporting an insulated metal deck type roof
